Doctor of Philosophy in Biology (Ph.D.), Professor, Director of Oshoro Marine Station, Field Science Center for Northern Biosphere, Hokkaido University (Japan). He is a regular reviewer of the articles in the scientific journals “Phycological Research” and “Algae”.
Scientific interests:
- development of restoration technologies of kelp natural recourses;
- studying of seaweed life history;
- technology improvement of seaweed commercial cultivation;
- general fishery.
He is an expert in hydrobiology and marine biological resources. He is an author of 91 scientific publications in these directions: articles, theses and conference proceedings. Among them 18 articles are in the journals indexed by Scopus and Web of Science. He is an author or co-author of 10 monographs. 1 Ph.D. thesis was successfully defended under his leading. He is a scientific consultant on kelp cultivation in open sea plantations of the island of Hokkaido and on restoration of their natural resources. He actively cooperates with Kombu Saruru Fisheries Cooperative Association and Japanese sea farmers. He has developed and experimentally introduced the method of artificial restoration of the kelp covering on the desertificated seabed subjected to the phenomenon Isoyake. At present he guides research study of post-graduates. He has an editorial experience (editing of 5 collections of research papers). Repeatedly he participated in the organization and work of national and international conferences, working groups, symposiums, etc. He actively cooperates and publishes with foreign colleagues from Russia, Korea, China and Canada.
